Somboon Seafood @ Bangkok, Thailand.

Following from my previous post on my AirBnB experience where the host, Nattapon, brought us to Somboon Seafood Restaurant at Central Embassy for lunch!

According to him, there are some restaurants which claim to be one of Somboon's branches but they are fake. Anyway, a snapshot of the menu and logo of the restaurant as below, if it helps:-

Menu and logo of the restaurant.

With such nice-looking menu, the restaurant that we went to was pretty classy. Possibly cause it was in Central Embassy where it's a high-end area with big brands. While we were there, it was quite empty which could be affected due to the odd timing - neither lunch nor dinner time.
Interior of the restaurant.

Found out that they're famous for their fried curry crab and best of all, they even have the dish served with crab meat only where shells are nowhere to be seen. With us being so lazy and hungry already, we obviously took the fried curry crab meat, along with two other dishes. :p

Food was served quite quickly and though we ordered small portion, the dishes can actually feed about 4 people.
Fried Curry Crab Meat: Generous amount of REAL crab meat with decent curry sauce. Bear in mind that this is not a spicy dish, though it's cooked with curry, hence, it's a little bland.
Stir-fry Morning Glory: Again, super generous with the amount of vege they've served and it's really fragrant with LOTS of garlic. For those who don't fancy garlic, please avoid ordering this. :)
Deep Fried Squid with Garlic: This is really one awesome dish, especially the garlic that was served and it was a fair amount of squid as well. Unlike those we have in Malaysia, the squid is not covered with batter prior to frying.

Just in case you need more proof to see how big the portion was...

On top of the dishes, we were served with super huge bowls of Thai fragrant rice each. The bill came up to 847 Baht (including a 10% service charge), which I personally think it's pretty worth it with such fresh seafood and a comfortable environment. Though the crab curry wasn't as flavourful as expected, taste wise was generally satisfying with reasonable pricing.

If you go in groups, do try other dishes such as their steamed fish and prawns too, since they do look tempting from the menu and it was recommended by my AirBnB host as well. :)

If you'd like to try, the address of the restaurant that we went to is as below:-

5th Floor, Central Embassy 1031 Ploenchit Rd, Lumpini, Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330 (BTS Ploen Chit Station)

They also have six other branches around Bangkok and if you need any further information on Somboon Seafood Restaurant, feel free to visit their official website here!
